Last week I explained that I do not believe in being lucky. I believe that the ‘lucky people’ in life are the ones whose persistent work has prepared them for timely opportunities; that they recognised and made the most of. Last week I also described the mental preparations that assist us in reaching our ambitions. This week I give you a step by step guide to physically preparing yourself for those opportunities; that always come your way.
Knowing and owning up to your ambitions can be a frightening task. If you have 1001 ideas and multiple skills or talents, write your ideas and abilities down on a piece of paper. Circle the skill or talent you absolutely love using or sharing with others. This will probably be the skill/ talent you will do, even if you are not going to be paid to do it. Then look at your list of idea/s and find the one that repeatedly pops into your mind; it’s okay if there is more than one. With a new list highlighting the skill / talent you absolutely love (the one you would do for free) and those ideas that repeatedly keeps popping into your mind; put the list somewhere safe, away from preying eyes and make sure it doesn't get dirty, torn or wet. Look at it as often as you feel too. At some point (God knows when) you will have a light bulb moment that brings forth extreme clarity to ideas /skills on the list. Here you will know how to achieve your ambitions and what you should start doing in order to get there. Write this down on paper and start being pro active; with positivity. You physical and mental preparations are going to help you out in the long run.

Why do we grudge others and say they were just lucky in their pursuits? Whether they got a better job than us, won the lottery or had the chance to travel overseas. What is it about seeing others progress that makes them lucky and us unlucky? Millionaires are said to be lucky including our sportsmen, music artists and media personalities. When it comes to achieving ambitions, I do not believe in luck. However, I do know that when your preparations meet a recognised opportunity; amazing things start to happen. The preparations I write about refer to are physical and mental preparations. I will start with the latter; Mental Preparations.
Do you learn from the lessons of every bad experience? Do you use these lessons to develop yourself to a higher level or do you continue to blame others or the government for your mishap and shortcomings? Do you speak positively about your current situation; seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, knowing that one day your hardships will be your testimony or do you speak with an air of hopelessness and despair? |
